Our Trip to Hawai'i (2010)--Day 19

Sea House
Drove up to the Sea House in Napili for breakfast this morning. Sea House is an open-air restaurant with a wonderful view of Napili Bay. The food was good other than the country potatoes. It took forever to get the check; as a result we considered the service to be mediocre.
Kapalua Adventure Center was the starting point what could be some very nice hiking. Unfortunately we didn't get the chance to find out today. Just as we were about to start the hike, the skies opened up with rain. The lady working the information desk advised us not to continue, claiming the rain wouldn't let up for awhile.
Instead, we headed south, stopping at several beaches alongside the main highway. The fires have finally been put out, leaving a lot of blackened mountainside in its wake. Our eventual destination was Po`olenalena Beach, one of South Maui's finest and the beach where we were supposed to get married in 1996 before signals got crossed and we ended up at Wailea Beach. Po`olenalena is a location where we would like to reaffirm our wedding vows someday.

Longhi's
Conditions were far better for tanning today so I took advantage of this for over two hours in the afternoon. Tonight's dinner was at a place we consider comparable to Kimo's--Longhi's on Front Street. Last year I had the early dinner special which is a four-course feast for only $39. Tonight Patty copied my order and was more than impressed. That butter basil sauce they do the New York strip steak pieces in...I'd crawl over a mile of broken glass for an order. That's how good this steak is. I had the Fettucini Alfredo and found it to be the best Alfredo I'd had at any restaurant. Some people have panned this restaurant and I have to wonder; just what were they expecting?! The food is as good as at any Italian place we've eaten. The service is top-notch. True, the atmosphere isn't up to Kimo's standards but it's tough to match Kimo's considering Longhi's is on the mauka side of Front Street. This is simply an outstanding restaurant.
We're beat from all the hiking we did earlier in the day so bedtime came early tonight.
