Our Caribbean Cruise (2011)--Day 3
4/19/2011
Our first full day at sea, expected to be cloudy with temps reaching the mid 80's. It turned out mostly sunny, however. The Windjammer (where we ate nearly all our meals during this cruise) was a welcome sight for our grumbling stomachs, where we stuffed ourselves with eggs, sausage, bacon and omelets. Staff here are overwhelmingly courteous and nice, but why not? They work for wages and tips.
After such a large meal, I felt the need to go to the Fitness Center, where I did 15 miles on the exercise bike. There is a Spin class going on, which costs $12 for an hour of group cycling. No thanks!
After our workout, we hit the sun for about an hour and a half. I should have used sunscreen! What was I thinking--because I did ten sessions in the tanning bed prior to the trip I was immune from burning in the tropical sun? So, off to the Centrum Shops I went, finding aloe vera with lidocaine to sooth my cooked forehead. It cost $14.50! And another $14.50 for a bottle of Aussie Gold SPF15 tanning oil which I'll use...once the burn has changed to tan. Or peeled.
The remainder of the day fell into a pattern which would be repeated throughout our cruise. Afternoon nap, dinner at the Windjammer, TV until between 10 p.m. and midnight, sleep.
