Our Trip to Maui (2012)--Day 11
5/2/2012
We slept in until 7:00 this morning, but managed to get out the door for our normal morning walk pretty quickly, hitting the beach by 7:40. After walking for nearly an hour and a half, we drove up to Safeway for more groceries, dumping $58 into some breakfast food, chips and fruits.
Patty hung out in the sun with me for about a half hour; I lasted from 10:00 until past 1:00. There was a very nice breeze which came up just after 11 a.m., helping me stay cool.
After showering I ate Patty’s leftover pasta from Casanova which I didn’t like much. We did a tour of room 531 (where we stayed in 2008) and it has been renovated—-it looks beautiful now! Tile floors throughout, brand new appliances. It’s now called a Premium room--and it comes at a premium price, about $50 more per night. Not worth it; at least, not to us.
Cilantro
At 4:30, we walked over to Cilantro, stopping first at Ruths Chris to make reservations for tomorrow night's dinner. Cilantro turned out to be a real treat which we should have tried long ago, but nothing on the menu had previously jumped out at us. I had the Mother Clucker Flautas, and they rocked! Patty didn’t like her Chicken Quesadillas, because all they consisted of was chicken and cheese. She liked the chicken but was expecting more, like sour cream and tomatoes. She should have researched this a little bit better.
`Ulalena
We then walked over to the Maui Theatre (virtually next door) and waited for the doors to open for Ulalena. The performance, lasting an hour and a half, was fantastic, taking viewers on an historic trip through Maui’s past, set to dance and music. Ulalena is well worth the cost.
Then it was back to the hotel. Another full day and we’re tired.
