Our Trip to Maui (2014)--Day 9
5/13/2014
A brief breather today between long activities--it was the best day we had all trip for laying out in the sun. The tradewinds came back today and were very refreshing! It's a nice relief after the constant humidity of the past week.
After a quick afternoon nap, we showered, dressed and headed down the road to Wailea, tonight's dinner destination being Fabiani's Wailea. At one point, I turned left instead of right--as we were cruising along I remarked how strange it is for Kihei to be getting rain when it was so sunny in Lahaina! Soon after this I saw the "Dairy Road" street sign and realized I had made the wrong turn and we were in Kahului! So, backtracking, we re-found the highway heading to Wailea and eventually located Fabiani's.
Fabiani's is in a sort of strip mall location, so the views outside the restaurant are minimal. But the decor is decent. Our server had a heavy British accent and one had to focus a bit to understand what she was saying. She probably would say the same about our American-Canadien accent!
Patty ordered the Beef Carpaccio appetizer, featuring sliced ribeye steak. She said it wasn't bad, nor was it very good. For our salads, I got the large Caesar Salad, which was good but not necessarily any better than what I had at other Maui restaurants. Patty got the large House Salad, and again, she wasn't impressed. She said she wasn't a big fan of "mixed greens", making me wonder why she didn't get the Caesar Salad if that was the case?
My meat lasagna--I've never had this dish served in a bowl before! But it was extremely tasty.
The total pre-tip bill came to $57. Patty thought this was too much, but I didn't agree, considering we had an appetizer, two salads and a pasta entree.
