Our Trip To Maui (2016)--Day 1
5/14/2016
Up early this morning and got the boarding passes printed out. Brought Kimo up to the boarders at 9 a.m., and after that we basically just hung out at the house until we left at 10:45. It was a chilly one-block walk down to the Little Store. Patty stayed inside the store where it was warm! Meanwhile, I waited outside for the Skyline Shuttle bus. It arrived promptly at 11:10. The ride down to Minneapolis went quickly. After a stop at Tobie's Express in Hinckley, we arrived at the MSP airport (Terminal 1) at 2:35 p.m. Passing by the Skyline Shuttle transportation desk, we located the Ground Transportation area easily enough and called the Best Western Dakota Ridge. They sent a shuttle bus which arrived at 3:00 and spirited us off to the hotel. Check-in was simple as nearly always. They'll be shuttling us back to the airport at 4:00 tomorrow morning.
After getting settled in and resting a bit, we called Per, who drove over from his Inver Grove Heights home. We had a 15% off coupon for Houlihan's courtesy of the front desk, so this was an easy choice for dinner. We enjoyed a great meal and a couple hours of getting caught up in our lives. Now we thought we were caught up after his visit to Proctor last January, but apparently we had much more to talk about! It has always been that way for Per and I going back to when we were 5-year-olds starting school at Lester Park Elementary.
Getting to sleep was a bugger tonight. Our room faces to the west so the setting sun is coming in through a thin window shade. Black-out drapes would have been nice, but no such luck here. My sleep was fitful at best. The bed was comfortable but not much of a help. Finally I was able to sleep for a few hours.
