Our Trip To Maui (2018)--Day 14
5/18/2018
We have only six full days left on Maui--while I'd like to stay longer, I miss Kimo and am somewhat concerned for the security of our house, especially with Josh and Kelly leaving for Texas tomorrow. We won't have eyes on our place for the next week.

Patty had a bad headache so she wouldn't be joining me for the drive to the North Shore today. I was tempted to wait on this trip myself as there was still some VOG affecting visibility. Lanai was still slightly obscured but you could see it's starting to clear out. I did want to drive down to Pizza Madness in Kihei today as this would provide lunch food for the next five days, so it was tough to know (at 8:15 a.m.) what I was going to decide.
Eventually, I decided to push back the North Shore trip to Saturday and instead head out on Front Street with my Nikon, getting some decent pics taken of shops, etc. on the makai side of the street. That done, I hit the lawn for an hour of tanning. Despite the sunny and hot conditions, the trade winds were kicking back up so it felt much better than the previous few days. Shower, nap followed--a familiar pattern for me.

At 5:30, we walked over to Kimo's to partake in their bar menu. This was the first time we had visited Maui and didn't have dinner on the top deck of this wonderful restaurant. We found some empty tables on the bar level alongside the rail. This was going to be perfect for viewing tonight's sunset! But we soon realized why the railside tables were all open, as waves were splashing up and over the rail onto the tables. Not the best venue for relaxing and noshing items from the bar menu! So we moved a couple rows away from the rail and gpt settled in. The table we chose, by the way, was perfect for sitting and watching tonight's entertainment.
The bar menu here has some items of interest. Patty was drawn to the Koloa Pork Ribs and I'm always drawn to their Caesar's Salad. I was a late arrival to the Ceasar's Fan Club, having not eaten my first one until we were here on our 1996 wedding night. I usually get one of these no matter where I dine. Tonight's salad was a bit on the small side and not especially tasty even though the lettuce on it was fresh. The dressing was lacking. Patty's ribs, on the other hand, were delicious. Since we got here almost an hour before sunset, we took our time and soaked in the views and the atmosphere. With Virgin Lava Flow in hand, I again browsed the menu and decided to order the Kimo's Klassic Cheeseburger. It took a while for my burger to arrive, but we didn't mind, as we watched the tiki torches lit and the sun setting. What an atmosphere!
My cheeseburger eventually arrived--it was good, but the burgers at Cool Cat Cafe are better. The final item on tonight's "piggery", Hula Pie, was outstanding as always.
