PageStat Looks at the Boys' High School Hockey Sections

This is a project I started back in 1999; using PageStat to determine who the favorites are in each of the 16 sections in Minnesota, who has a decent chance and who has any chance in the section playoffs. A “favorite” is described as being within one point from the top of that section. “Decent Chance” is a team within two points, and “You Never Know” shows teams within three points.

This is how PageStat sees the sections at this point in the 2022-23 season:

1AA: Favorite: Lakeville South; Decent Chance: none; You Never Know: Lakeville North

2AA: Favorite: Minnetonka; Decent Chance: Chanhassen; You Never Know: Holy Family

3AA: Favorite: St. Thomas Academy, Cretin-Derham Hall; Decent Chance: Eastview; You Never Know: Rosemount

4AA: Favorite: White Bear Lake, Hill-Murray; Decent Chance: Stillwater; You Never Know: Gentry Academy, Woodbury

5AA: Favorite: Maple Grove, Rogers; Decent Chance: Centennial, Champlin Park; You Never Know: none

6AA: Favorite: Benilde-St Margaret's, Edina, Wayzata; Decent Chance: none; You Never Know: none

7AA: Favorite: Andover; Decent Chance: Duluth East; You Never Know: none

8AA: Favorite: Moorhead, Roseau; Decent Chance: Buffalo; You Never Know: Bemidji, Sartell

1A: Favorite: Northfield; Decent Chance: New Prague; You Never Know: none

2A: Favorite: Orono; Decent Chance: Delano, Minneapolis; You Never Know: Providence Academy
