Hearts in Hawai'i

Our Trip To Hawai'i (2004)--Final Thoughts
4/6/2004

1. Sure, it's expensive and the flight there from the Upper Midwest can be torture, but it's worth it. We've been other places and Hawai`i will always be at the top of our list of places we love to visit.

2. Is it me, or is there just nothing about the Big Island which appeals to me, especially considering we've never been there? I've read books about the B.I. and it doesn't look like any place I'm pumped to visit. Now, I'm probably wrong on that and chances are, I'll be posting a trip review in a few years singing the praises of this island, but...

3. Maui is still our favorite island, but good weather could improve our perception of Kaua`i. It certainly had the potential from what we experienced. Oahu is fun but not the real Hawai`ian experience. Yet, we'd still take a week in Oahu over a week in any other non-Hawai`ian destination.

4. Smokefree restaurants on all three islands would have driven us pissed two years ago. This time, we were grateful. Funny how a simple thing like quitting smoking will change your perspective.

5. We love it there. Love it. Love it. Love it. You can write a thousand words, a million words, about Hawai`i, but all the analysis keeps coming back to how we feel about those islands. It's what brings us back for return trips. It's what will bring us back, hopefully very soon.
