Hearts in Hawai'i

Our Trip to Hawai'i (2010)--Day 22

The Final Day

Our final full day on Maui started off bright and sunny. Trade winds are expected to lessen today which should keep most of the clouds on the windward side.

The mini-DV tape works again! It's a little scrunched up at the start so I'll need to convert the entire tape to DVD immediately when we return home. Needless to say, I'm surprised.

Walking down Front Street this morning in search of a mail box to mail in my traffic ticket payment, there wasn't one until I reached the Wharf Center. Back at the hotel, I shot some pics in and around the hotel, filling in some gaps.

Patty talked to her Mom this morning and found out they had snow in Duluth on Friday! The snow was gone by yesterday (at least by Lake Superior, I later find it didn't melt until Sunday well inland). It's supposed to rain in Duluth this coming week.

Today the suitcases came out and we commenced some light packing with the thought of making tomorrow morning's task as easy as possible.

Another good Coffee Club meeting this morning. Afterward I hit the sun for over two hours--it's the best sun we've had with very few clouds, but hot! Later in the afternoon, we took a nice stroll on the beach. We're trying to savor every minute of this final day.

Already we're discussing the next trip. I keep saying we need to save some money next year and put off the next Hawai`i trip for two or three years. Patty wants to come back next year (just Maui) for 16-17 days. Her wishes will probably win out--invariably, they almost always do!

Also discussing which activities we'd like to partake in, including renting bicycles for a day or two, cocktail cruise (not on the Ocean Spirit), Feast at Lele, Hana, sunset at Haleakala, another hiking tour. Going to Molokini on a snorkel cruise on a boat such as Four Winds II. Restaurants we'd like to try include Ruths Chris, Melting Pot, Duke's Ka`apapali, Bistro Casanova. Plus the obligatory return to a few of our favorites such as Kimo's, Longhi's, Fat Daddy's and Casanova.

Jeez, we're still here and already we're planning our next trip!

Hard Rock Cafe

Our final restaurant dinner was a last-minute decision to go to the Hard Rock Cafe. Most burgers are $15 and can't compare to Cool Cat Cafe or, for that matter, Ruby's. Exorbitant! Cool rock videos play while we eat, but it didn't offset the cost of the food. Patty had the chicken quesadillas, which she claimed are the best she's ever had. My burger was good but certainly not worth the cost.

Livewire Cafe was closed by the time we walked past on our return to the hotel, preventing me from printing out tomorrow's boarding passes until it opens tomorrow morning, whenever the hell that is.
