Hearts in Hawai'i

Skillet Chili

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs lean ground beef
  • 1 lb Italian Sausage
  • 1 onion, finely diced
  • 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
  • 2 cans (15 oz each) tomato sauce
  • 12 oz. tomato paste
  • 2 cans (16 oz each) Joan Of Arc Spicy Chili Beans
  • 2 tsp. Louisiana Hot Sauce
  • 1 tsp. seasoning salt
  • 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cayenne pepper
  • 2 Tb. Chili 9000 (from Penzey's Spices)
  • 1 1/2 cups water

    1. Brown and crumble ground beef and sausage; drain

    2. Stir in all the other ingredients

    3. Cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until desire consistency (at least one hour for best flavor--we usually cook it for two hours)
