Our Trip To Maui (2018)--Day 12

The Kealia Pond between Ma`alaea and Kihei presented us with some nice photo opportunities today. Few people were here, and we had the boardwalk pretty much to ourselves. We found out the beach adjacent to the boardwalk is comprised of very firm sand, perfect for walking. We walked a bit toward Ma`alaea and then returned and completed our boardwalk stroll, taking whatever pics I could find along the way. After that, we drove back to Lahaina.
It was sunny and hot today, with a bit of humidity. Neither of us lasted longer than an hour in the sun--I think I'm actually getting tired of the constant heat and sun. Not that I pine for those 40 degree days in Duluth when the wind is howling off Lake Superior, mind you, but there is this slight yet growing feeling inside telling me "It's time to go home".
Late in the afternoon, we drove up to Wailuku with our dinner destination being 808 On Main. The inside was somewhat dark, with an open air feel to it. We're told to sit wherever we want; after finding a table we liked, we browsed the menu. Patty decided on a Cobb Salad sans avocado. I opted for the soup/sandwich combo, sandwich being the Southern Squealer, which is pulled pork, BBQ sauce, cheddar cheese and is topped with coleslaw. I forked up the coleslaw and then attacked the sandwich. The coleslaw had a nice tangy taste to it, and was probably one of the best coleslaws I've ever tasted. The sandwich was likewise very tasty. The soup was Jambalaya with chunks of sausage and chicken. Again, very good! The pre-tip bill came to only $33. What a bargain!

Back in Lahaina Town, Patty headed out to a meeting, and I decided to check out every T-shirt place I can find on Front Street. I want that Lahaina, Maui shirt! Not finding it at the first several places I checked, I eventually found myself at Paradise Lahaina near Dickenson Street (there are four or five Paradise Lahaina outlets here). There it was! $13 later, I walked out with my seventh T-shirt purchased during this trip. That should probably be enough. Patty has bought six and I think they will fit in the checked luggage fairly easily as we haven't purchased much else while here on Maui.

Meanwhile, Josh, our next door neighbor back home, sent me a Facebook message with a picture of a car he shot parked in our drivway, asking if I recognized the car. I didn't, and told him to have it towed I then sent Bruce, on the other side of our townhouse, a message asking if he knew anything about the car. We think/hope it was someone visiting his house. I didn't recall telling Bruce that we were going on vacation and why he'd think it was okay to let a visitor park in our driveway. By the time I got the messages sent, it's past 11 p.m. in Duluth so I figured I wouldn't get a response today.
We only have a week left here. While it seemed like the first four or five days went by slowly, time really seems to be flying by now. Two nights ago I was ready to go home. Today I want to stay another month. Who knows how I'll feel tomorrow? I do know there are still a lot of pics I want to take and time is starting to get short. I want to find some spots where I haven't taken any pics with this D7100--Kanaha, Baldwin and Ho'okipa beaches come to mind. So that's the plan for Friday after the haze clears out and the trade winds are expected to strengthen once again.
